I agree,,,, go get the trailer.

Let the guy call you to getthe boat back.

the fact that you say he is shady scares me.

Dont want your trailer damaged, ( now have to prove he did it ),,,, or to disappear

My experience in life has shown me this, When ever I get a gut feeling its never ben wrong-ever. and everytime I gave someone the benefit of the doubt I got screwed.
So if it was me I'd have my trailer real quick is there anybody at the new shop who can take it off? Just explain you are leaving on vacation with your boat and need it NOW

get the boat and trailer put boat in water and call the guy. Tell him you thought you would help him out since you have a truck

By the way here is where the boat is tied up ......

I wouldnt wait another minute

When i owned Manning Trailer we had a guy with similar situation trying to get his trailer back the boat that was on the trailer turned out to be one that the cops were liooking for with National Marine disaster He got the traile before the feds took the boat with his trailer under it

Go float and if you are afraid then go get the boat and trailer and call the guy and tell him it is at your house and you will help him float it onto a new trailer

Be sure to video tape it if you go the rope and tree route. May I suggest using a chain instead of a rope?

+1 on the video. Make sure the transom on the boat is not rotton

Seriously I would document the date and location. Then do a registered letter, return receipt with deadline for pickup. The return receipt seems to make things happen.

A seventies model 31 foot Chris Craft is sitting on your trailer. Holly crap your going to have to rebuild your trailer after you get that water logged whale off their. Bunks or rollers something we be all messed up. Both boat bottoms are different good luck on your boat lining back up on the trailer.

Lesson learned
