I'm surprised... I would not believe this unless someone who rode both would tell the same !

I think the key is that the Fountain in question would be ~4 feet longer.

4 feet huh??? :lolhit:

although I do believe the Fountain rides better than we give them credit for, I still would rather have my 382.

All BS and fun and games aside, the 42' Fountain is about the same size IRT weight, waterline length, wetted hull at speed as the:

38 Formula
38 Cigarette
388 Hustler
37 Active Thunder
38 Donzi ZR (38 ZR is bigger)
38 Scarab
39 Lavey Evo
39 Velocity
38 Powerquest
and others...

I would suggest you take each for a ride. They are all good boats BUTT there is no question a 42 Fountain will ride the best, it's the only one that is staggered and has a great CG with proven history.

Does anyone have any input on the ride of these three boats. Years would be 2000w 500 or 525,s Which would give the smoothest ride in a 2 ft chop. Most room speed etc. Thanks

Fountain is heavier than all boats below

Fountain weighs more than all of these (except maybe 38 Scarab only if built by Larry Smith but 3K heavier than new stepped Scarab. 12,800 DRY

We have had 4 388 hustlers in 2000,2001,2003,2005. They are awesome boats, very well built. Never a problem with anything. Very fast with 500's or 525's, you get over a 100mph
the boat gets little spooky. The 39 Rocket Hustler is building now is for 100 mph plus speeds.

don't want to hijack this tread, but again, maybe shogreen can answer this:

how would you describe a fountain 42, with triple engines? or any other brand with triple instead of twins...

are they too heavy ? are they a lot more thursty compared to twins ? having too many troubles with center drive?

or

much more stable ?

why those for sale are not selling ? why those company pretty much stopped building triples?

again only those who rode them can really tell the truth I guess !

Any answers from team shogreen on that?

thanks!

Hands down 37 A/T with 525's ! You need a demo ride from Pat.

I learned to like the small things. The bilge is huge in the 42 staggered. I you do your own engine maintenance, as I do, you will never want another side by side v-bottom. Plus the back pad is long enough for a 6' person to stretch out without your legs or feet hanging off the back of the boat.
