That's the great thing about LED lights...Minimum battery drain!

Yea, I was a bit hesitant with the whole drilling into the transom but really, holes for the drives, holes for the trim tabs, holes for the swim step, holes for the external steering, holes where the old pito tube was, holes for the zink things....etc etc etc. Figured three more very small holes that will be vigorously caulked isn't going to hurt. :drink: Plus, when we did the swim step, pulled the old one off, re-gel'd the transom holes and drilled for the new swim step it put me at a bit more ease with the whole thing.

I assume they are different sizes with a varying number of LED's. You mention not putting them on the sides or bottom. How big are they? Would they hang down far enough on the bottom to make a difference? Thanks, Eddie

Here's a pic of what they look like. They are pretty flush but I think if you put them on the sides or the bottom it would definately affect the performance and it would put a lot of water pressure on the "seam" of the light.

I know the cruisers put them all the way around the boats but there's not as much pressure as on a performance boats.

Thanks for the quick reply Tank. They are larger than I thought. I see that yours has 12 LED's. I assume that the why it's called an A12. The A6 and A3 must have the same corresponding number of lights. Very nice and thanks for the pics and replies. Can't wait to install some.

Exactly right on the size/name. The A3's run just under 200 the A6's run just under 400 and the A12's are just under 800. I'd say the A6's are enough but Ocean LED opted to send the larger ones.

Kool-aid-man's Top Gun has the A6's on it and they look great (see pic). It's a whole lotta "wow factor" for low dollers and fairly simple install.

I have a set of A6's (medium sized) and they are amazingly bright.

I dont have any night shots yet, but they are bright enough to light up the whole camp sight at night when I parked the boat at the camp at Lake Nacimiento and they illuminated the whole slip and an area about 20 feet behind me in San Diego a few weeks ago.

Not only are they bright, they run cool and as you said use little to no juice.

I went all LED with over 20 tri colored interior lights and when I run the insides all 20 pull only about 1.5 Amps.

Good stuff.

The amphibians he put on his can be mounted on trim tabs, above water, etc. They require a hole only for the cord to run through.....not a 1"+ hole for the brass housing like the bigger models.

Install was super easy (took about an hour). They are pretty bright, (not as bright as the Ocean but bright enough) and I got a smokin deal ($200 for both). The Ocean LED's are nice but expensive, also check out Shadow-Casters, they are crazy bright too.
