This is what I can't understand? If conditions are so bad, then why so fast?

On the other hand, the skipper was in his 60's according to reports. Possible he was dead prior to the crash and powered up when he slumped over?

If so, givent he narrow channel, it's possible no one had time to react to prevent it

Just some thoughts on the matter.

I saw on one of the articles that they "couldn't get to the boat" (due to the shallows and marshes). Why doesn't the FD or PD have at least one airboat on standby?

Prayers out to the families and friends of those killed and injured.

Going 150 feet into the marsh is very believable, probably a little under estimated.
The story I heard on Channel 5 this morning said 150 mph and 100 feet into the marsh... I wrote into the channel and they quickly revised the story saying excessive speed....

Very sad, but why are you on plane in a narrow channel in the dark? Just doesn't make sense to me.
