First, make sure the lift is wide enough. Many Vs are narrower and people buy lifts that way. Second, depending on your preference, you can hold the cat with low bunks, but might need to add an additional bunk on each side to give a groove for the hull.

I suggest hiring a local lift installer who can measure your boat while on trailer or at a hi-n-dry. They can usually get the lift set almost correct before you bring the boat. Then they will make final adjustment for you.

Also, you amy already know this, but make sure the lift's capacity is enough. Some lifts are made for smaller recreational boats and high lower capacity wires, etc. if they had a 38'+ Cigarette, most likely it can hold your cat as long as the width is there.

Once you have it set-up, it's a breeze.

And flush after every use. Rinse all gear down and take your time. Salt takes its toll over time.
