One Imco Lower/One XR Lower...on a twin....

Just wondering if anyone has run a twin engine boat with one lower being a standard XR Lower and the other a standard length (not a shorty) Imco Lower. I may have a great deal on a Imco lower and the only difference I have been told is the nose cone...... will the boat run the same or will this cause some sort of drag or other problems.

No experience here. Is the XR lower a sportmaster or bone stock lower? Common sense would dictate running the same lowers. The only way I think anyone would run different lowers, is in a emergency situation. Buy another Imco lower. Or dont change at all. You will not see any performance improvement. Will look kind of weird for sure.

Perfectly acceptable......in Oklahoma

John isnt considering running an XR lower and an Imco lower as a permament set up. He is only concidering this as an option for "in case" 1 drive should break during the short NY season. His concern is, would mixing a standard XR ( not sportmaster ) lower with an Imco SC lower create some sort of hydrodynamics problems for a short term use, until the standard XR can be rebuilt and re-installed.

I ran a standard Xr loxer and a Sport master for about 30 hrs without any trouble.

As a temporary thing I dont think it would be a huge problem..I wouldnt push the boat to its limits. Im no expert, but I would think the different shape and skeg style might affect hydrodynamics and could possible be dangerous at higher speeds. IMHO
