Don't laugh too fast. Potenteometers (not this particular brand or manufacturer) have been used on Merc 2.5 race outboards for at least 10 years with good results. Rapair, also known as CDI electronics (build first class electrical components for outboards) have been installing pigtails on 2.5 outboard race ECU's to accomodate a dash mounted fuel enrichment knob. They take the fuel 15% rich or 10% lean but need to be used in conjuction with exhaust temp pyrometers. On a stock 21 foot skater with a single 2.5 runs 96MPH flat out all day long with 920 degree exhaust temp taken at the exhaust plate between the mid and powerhead. Add a knob, lean it to run 980 degrees and 99MPH all day. Modify the block, richen it up. Move this post over to scream and fly and see the feedback on this style of fuel enrichment. If you have a set of pyros and know what exhaust temp your engine should run at before detonation and lean it to run that temp you will blow the stock guy next to you AWAY.

These Mercury I/O performance engines are already running very rich as compared to the outboards. Believe me when I say if you add more fuel to these engines with a sensor/ecm map sensor distorter you will just loose power and if you lean them to make more power you will need some baskets to put all the scattered parts in!

I know. That's why I got rid of the mercury junk on my I/O and installed one of these.
