I'd just sell the 1200's.

I think the sixes would be fine.

I think you are going to see plenty of those for sale soon.

Default Systems Turbo

didn't Bob Kaiser run a System boat that had mercury Trubo's in the late 80's? I think it had some help from Mclaren Automotive. Could this engine be based off that one?

I believe the new engines are too powerful for the 6's and will destroy them.....even the trans is beefier!
Expensive, beautiful components to power the expensive , beautiful powerboats! A marriage made in Fort Knox..........

That's what I am afraid of.

They are only going to be offered as a package the first yr. Which is fine because the six won't hold up under that much Torque, and I want a transmission and warranty.

OR MAYBE, the 1700+hp race gas version.

BOB HAD MCCLAREN BUILD SOME TURBOS FOR HIM, THEY WERE NOT PROPERLY INTERCOOLED AND RAN TO MUCH COMPRESSION. THEY NEVER LIVED AND HE HAD VERY LITTLE SUCCESS WITH THEM.

Very interesting discussion. I noticed comments about engine spool up...comparing top fuel supercharged cars..truck diesels, etc. The comparison is invalid. Diesel trucks have large pneumatic capacitance with their intercoolers, taking time to fill up the volume and throttle response unnecessary and designed to cost as appropriate. Nitro cars, I think the instantaneous exhaust heat and velocity would spit the turbine impeller out of the exhaust with 8000 hp...NOW!!!
My humble opinion, turbos will require a slight change in how the sticks are used...no biggie. What merc is doing is a smart package...everything well integrated. $200k though? I think refurbed t-53s or several 4 rotor turboed wankels are the answer.

Default Mercury Turbo Engines

Not much info available about the motor components used on Mercury 1300/1350 turbo motor.

Is the block Chevy based or a custom design? Who made the block, heads and intake? How are the cams driven?
