Dominator or King Demon?
Which carb for a 540 N/A application The 1050 Dominator or the King Demon and why?
|
IMO (and Bob Teagues) you only want a 2-circuit Dominator style carb. I do think BG makes a 2-circuit King Demon. We use the Holley 7320; I think they are now making a 2-circuit Dominator that this CG approved.
Why not 3-circuit? They are too rich in the midrange and you can't tune it out. |
Ben I think you have that the other way around, 3 circuit is what you want
|
No, Ben is on the money. You want the 2 circuit. They are not only rich in the mid, but also at tip in. They were more designed for hard launching drag cars to eliminate a flat spot off the line.
Personally, I prefer the Holleys. However, they do need some work. Don't rely on the jets and air bleeds that come with it. There have been some issues with the BG's with porosity and cleanliness problems. They also had some manufacturing and machining issues. There were quite a few that gave people fits because of trash from machining left in the carb because it wasn't cleaned properly. I think they have addressed most, if not all of the problems, so they may be ok now. Eddie |
2 circuit Holley 8082 or marine version.
Take that Barry Grant piece of crap 1090 and use it for an anchor. It will not meter fuel properly and it is garbage. Maching problems design problem and the list goes on. If you take the BG carb and give it to a carb company to refit it and redesign it you may have a useable piece of crap. Call Teague and ask why did you stop carrying BG King Demons. |
