Not your year model but
I have a 03 3500 4x4 dually,it has the edge attitude ,stage 2 air cleaner,MPBR stainless exhaust, its been on it since new,I saw about 1mpg in 1, stage 2 towing the Hustler is 10mpg,stage 3 it doesn't slow down on hills, I have all the alarms set low,I never let the exhaust get over 1320.The edge has gone crazy a few times over the years.

At 90k and haven't towed anything for a year being the boat in paint shopblew head gasket, loosing water, they blamed on chip.heads are disposable also$6800.sucked.
I haven't hooked it back up,they gave me a 1year,12k warranty.waiting, they probably cant tell if it was hooked back up or not?

I run my 08 GMC 3500 with a PPE hot plus 2 ET. Factory intake and exhaust. I recently pulled my Black Thunder to missouri from Texas running 75-80 all the way. I ran th3 3rd setting at an extra 125hp. Not one problem. Same thing on the return with another BT. Ive had great luck with PPE stuff. Never a code set or any problems. Oh yea, the DPF is still on and active!

programmers modify the pulse width on the injectors. This is great for power/torque but also means that the truck readout is meaningless. If you run anything but stock you have to hand calculate your mileage.

Towing my boat I get 12 and running empty I get 16-18 tops.

I did not have a programmer for one and did a lot of highway driving and the fuel checked out with the display also Allison did the transmission at 30k with their fluid, front end alignment kept up and I kept close to stock size on my tires and aired up, my last tow with it Miami to Pa 17.5 that was another truck on a hauler behind it 20+ empty is nothing!! you should check with the Diesel guys and find out what is wrong with your equipment. 18 is a joke!

Be careful on the newer trucks. When you install a programmer or do a tune, the ECU shows a footprint from that and the dealer/service dept can see that. They'll be quick to void your warranty if you have any issues.

Read up on all that at Diesel Place like someone else mentioned.

With regard to warrantys I'm in pretty good shape since my employer owns many GM Dealerships. No plans to go haywire but I should be able to cover minor out of bounds under warranty.
Truck gained about .5-.75 mpg (when towing things that truck gets around 12 mpg). Gained alot running real brisk empty, have seen 18 mpg running 80-85 mph with no headwind, drops to 15.5 w/stock tune,no dpf at same speed, same trip. Overall the mileage isn't impressive though even modified, stock tires in the summer running the tune that gets me the best mileage towing I only see 11.9-13.5 pulling 7000lb boat and trailer 68-72 mph. My 04 duramax would pull 15.5 to 16 under same exact conditions. I can see 22 mpg though running empty driving 56 mph babying the throttle on a straight road although if I lean on it or start and stop a couple times even just a couple times it plunges quickly,Smitty

I have a stock 06 LBZ and honestly it has enough power and torque to pull anything I throw at it...not worth the risk of GM voiding the warranty.

Yes that is the reason I never Chipped mine , the EGR got blocked off and I ran the normal diesel fuel additives to keep the injectors and the pumps lubed. Putting huge tires on these things kills Mileage also.

keep it stock.. I have both 04 GM and Ford with 250k on them.. They started out with low hp chips/modules.. and took them off as I fixed the trucks. The last two I did were the 07's. The 08's are stock..too much emission stuff on.. and though I wish they had more power/tq.... stock just pulls fine with no problems to date..approaching 70k on one of the 08's.
