Question Donzi question

Hello,

I curently own a 2002 Baja 302 Boss and I plan to move to a larger model. I am not looking for extreme performance (I am on a river) but I need cabin space as I often sleep in the boat with the kids. A microwave and a refrigerator is something important.

I was looking for something in the 38, but it is a little too big. I don't want to change the tow rig...

So, something in the 33-36 will be nice. I like the Outlaw 35, the cabin setup, but I think I will miss the windshield. But I seen very good deals.

The 35 Lightning is too small and does not have enough cabin space.

The Donzi 33ZX seems very interresting. I say some Daytona Edition, do you know what is ithe difference ?

I saw many with 496 Ho's ans some with 525. Any major difference in the performance ? Does it worth the extra $$ ? What about fuel consumption ?

Thanks for your help !

i have looked seriously at the 33zx several times, very roomy, wide beam, would be real good for overnighting. i think the daytonas had a stick built cabin, were a little lighter but dont quote me. also they have a ton of headroom in the cabin, my wife could stand up in it. i have seen them with 496's 502's 500hp's 500efi's and 525's. i have heard 70-72 with smaller motors and 80+ with the big ones. i have also been told there were a couple model years that had issues with delamination or something fiberglass related so u might want to do some checking on that.

Sent you a pm.

The 35 baja will run 72-73 loaded up with HO's. Best I have seen is 75.(light load)

With 525's The 35 Baja will run low 80's Right around 83.
Cabin and cockpit are very roomy.
Layout is nice and basic.

the 33 zx is a well built boat.. and seem a lot larger then 33' lot of room..

the 525s are the ticket if you can find one for a good price..

Good luck!

Default 33 daytona info

I own a 2003 33ZX Dayton and love the boat. I, like you, wanted something roomy for the family to overnight in, yet still wanted high performance. The interior is not stick built on the Dayton. It's exactly the same as the base ZX. Some may vary by the options that were ordered. Mine has a table, vacu flush head, accent lighting, fridge, two sinks, 2000 watt factory radio, etc...

The Daytonas are lighter by around 800 lbs due to a Kevlar composite bottom hull (I believe it's mainly the running surface).

I have 575's with ITS and ran a fastest of 87 on GPS when stock, with Hydromotive P-5's

check with captains choice in ft walton beach, fl. they have a bunch of repos. baja, donzi, sunsation, and lots more. if a new boat is in your budget the new 36 sunsation might b what your looking for.

That 04 33 DONZI was a stolen/recovery...I sold it to a client in 06, it was recovered after it was stripped, thats why new parts are on the old boat.

hotjava66 pretty nailed it on the head..

only thing i would add is that the daytona is an upgrade package.. mostly in the lay-up, aft seat, and in the last good number of years with the daytona zx came with its xr drives standard..

now to the power.. go blue mercury.. the 525 with Q&Q is a nice option.. black merc's belong in cruisers not go fast
