Great Weekend

Great weekend finally. Hot.....a bit windy but everyone managed. Thanks to the Vt for braving the broad and meeting up with us at the north end of Valcour at Pirates Cove. Had a great tie-up and a big crew to end the weekend festivities. I have 127 pic to sort through and will post as soon as I can....Now as promised the details on the 2010 Summer Blast Pt I.......Pt I because we've talked about another run in Sep for those that can't make it next weekend. See next post for details!!!

Lake Champlain Summer Blast

Bear with me now.............it's been a very long weekend as most of us know!!!!:party-smiley-020: The schedule, as of now, is for Saturday the 10th and a 1100am start from the Plattsburgh City docks (Clare & Carls). Now as has already been passed around, this run is supposed to be "fun"....if the weather is suspect or bad, we will postpone until Sunday the 11th...same time. If the weekend turns out to be a wash, we'll re-schedule sometime the end of July/1st part of August. The current forcast shows Saturday as suspect with 30-40% chance of rain, but Sunday looks nice! So there is a good chance we will be running Sunday instead of Saturday. Please plan accordingly and stay tuned to this thread for updates throughout the week.

Summer Blast

The plan is to make this run a bit more interesting with some "card" playing involved...just for "kicks"!! Of course donations will be gladly accepted before the start...let's make Andrew Jackson proud now! The first card will be given at the City Docks....if dockage is an issue, swing in to the docks for a nice hand-off from the friendly volunteer!! Now Plattsburgh's Mayor's Cup is this weekend, so please take care around the docks and the bay. Because everyone is such great boat handlers, there should be no issues. We'll move the start further into Cumberland Bay to make sure we are safe and clear...remember this is not a race...be safe as we always are...big open water is just ahead!!

Please excuse the low-tech approach.

The Route.

Start from Cumberland Bay off of Clare and Carl's, Plattsburgh City Docks. Run to the entrance of the Gut...get 2nd card...watch for Jimbo and the big flag! Through the Gut, under the draw bridge and into the Inland Sea proper. Head SSE to St Albans Bay. ONCE IN THE BAY STAY LEFT OF THE ISLANDS...GETS REAL SHALLOW....you'll have plenty of room and water. Tie/raft at public docks...be looking for Chris and the big flag and your 3rd card at the docks. To the Bayside for a nice relaxing lunch. Receive 4th card before leaving. Head back to broad lake following same route in. Once outside the Gut, head north to the Rouses Point bridge to re-organize. A "small boat detour" will be across to the front of Mooney Bay Marina, north of Point Au Roche, to awaiting the returning northern boats....look for Chris and that big flag. Rouse's Pt crew heads back south, meeting up with "short" route crew and all continue south to the Peru boat launch...putting on a nice show for the folks on the ferry and between Valcour and shore (of course being safe as always...remember Mayor's Cup and those boats). We'll re-organize in front of the Peru launch. For those not pulling out, follow the flag a bit further south to Doc's place on the lake and anchor in his small bay. Shuttle service will be provided from your boat to Doc's via jet ski, canoe, rowboat.......Doc's got that one under control! The final card will be given there and a major munch and refreshment fest will commence!!!
