scarab 22 motor upgrade
 

A little help if you can. I have a Scarab 22 with a 454/330hp and am in the process of getting a new motor built. The shop is telling me I should have about 500hp when they are done. If my speed was 55mph with 330hp that would be 6 hp/mph. This would mean that I could expect 83mph out of 500hp. Is it that simple?

You have hull efficienacy, and prop slip to deal with, its not a straigt line, I would be guessing high 70's, might touch 80 with some setup.

I have a scarab 22, that i have worked on and get 80 gps out if it , I live in williasmville call me 866-3468 . I have a shorty on it and had the bottom checked and have steering on it. I can tell what props will work or not ( the wilson boys know me )

I here that, I say heblers new boat, There is a guy with a 29 fountain in west river that has 575 sc in it i ran nose to nose with him and he said his boat does 85 mph . kevin ,bubbie, kilroy . I can keep up on a good day scott ps go to youtube and look for scarab 22 running at speed in west river and you will see me at 78 mph under the gun

what gear ratio is your outdrive? i have a 97 with a bone stock motor running 1.50 ratio bravo one with a labbed 4 blade 24 pitch and i run 74 on gps.

What motor are you running, were you going down stream just need a little info. iam running 1.5 ratio, you need well over 500 hp to get that speed out off a 22 . if it is a stock 330 hp your rev limiter is set 4350 if it is a mag 4850 , hp 500 5350 . With a 24 labbed prop i think you would be on the rev limiter .

I have a 21 scarab.I know its a lot diff than the 22 but I am only seeing a touch over 70 with 530HP.

I think you will see 74-76 with the right setup.
