They do forget that Lake George was famous for its Races, and the racers that lived here. The 90dB noise rule can be argued for ever. Its a law in a lot of states, but not enforced. What I do agree on is that the people that live on the lake need to know that they do NOT own the lake. The taxpayers do. So they have no more right to say how it is used than you and I do. However most of them have a lot more zero's in their checkbooks. and like most places, money talks.

Lot of places I would like to hit in NY with the next boat. Lake George, Sacandaga, Champlain, etc. Hard to get around the beauty of the home base of the 1000 islands though. I know a lot of people get nervous about running up there but grab a gps or someone that knows where they are going and you are all set.

I have to say that LG is one of the best buoyed places that I have ever been. If you pay any kind of attention you are pretty good to go there.
Anything you could hit is marked. So if you stay 200 feet from the shore and the danger buoys you wont hit a thing.

It did take some serious research to find a decent launch. We go to either Castaway's or Fishers.

BTW, where is a good marina/hotal to stay with the boat for the night? It seems all the marina's/hotels have very small guest slips (if any for that matter) for overnight accomadations. The boat is 30' so I would need something decent.
I know they do not allow any anchoring in the bays overnight. Kinda silly, but oh well.
Friend of mine owns Treasure Cove. Great place. They have a launch and docking or you can keep boat on trailer and launch it when you need to.

I'm guessing you are talking about Sacandaga?

You need to stay 200' from the buoys?

If so, thats why people that aren't familiar with the lake get nervous about it.

If you keep the markers between you and shore you'll be fine.
