Those are pretty good numbers for 540's that have not had major head work. I say go run em. :coolcowboy:

I am very happy with these numbers; my Bravos are not so happy (SKramer offered to rebuild them for free:eek:).

Thanks for everyone's input!!

Just pulled my dyno sheet, your right they cross at 5252 R.P.M. I have never heard this. Can somebody explain this? Thanks, Doug P.S. Wow, on the #'s

As a NA'ed engine does it seem short in the RPM department? Would he be better off spinning a big cube NA'ed engine like this up to 5800 with a cam like this? http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...51&lvl=2&prt=5

Ha! Have you seen your transom lately (or my nice, new to me, only slightly broken-in #6s)? I bought them off Craig's List, I swear!!

Good call on the 5252 issue - my builder pretty much freaked out when I called him as he was getting ready to tear them down to figure out why we were not getting the torque he had built for. He checked his dyno and confirmed that he had not reset from the previous runs with some exotic diesel where he had discounted torque to calculate for internal friction or something like that. Here are numebrs after he cleared and re-calculated:

RPM HP TQ
3200 414 676
3300 429 684
3400 445 687
3500 461 691
3600 475 693
3700 490 696
3800 509 704
3900 529 713
4000 549 721
4100 565 724
4200 583 729
4300 600 733
4400 616 736
4500 631 736
4600 647 739
4800 674 737
4900 682 731
5000 690 725
5100 696 717
5200 704 711
5300 709 703
5400 712 693
5500 712 680

The beauty of dyno's with a little change in the correction factor its easy to make a customer happy... I would have asked them to get it to see about 1000hp, and Tq well where would you want it? For you are the customer... Only works until the motor goes in the boat and makes a few speed runs. Then reality sets in hard...
Just busting you, buy yep its that easy....
