DSS PROPHET

I sell both systems and this is my take on the whole issue. If you want sports then go with Direct TV. Movies Dish Network has it hands down. Tech sapport Dish Network also has that hands down. As far as getting more then two tv's you can have as many as you want off of your dish. I just set up a house with 32 active drops. (and you guys thougth I needed a life)!!! :D:D

That is about it. Your aim out of your house could also determine what unit you get, as they both aim in different directions and if one does not work the other may. You will NEVER go back to cable after you use DSS.

My brother-in-law installs Dish network systems. He was saying that Disn and direct TV are merging. I see this week Dish is advertising a TIVO like setup. There is a hardrive in your reciever and you can record a show on it. Or just part of a show and start watching after it has already started. That sounds great for when you get a phone call in the middle of a movie. We've had Direct TV for 3 years and love it. The Playboy Channel ( you've got to see Nightcalls) is 14.00 per month.

Payton!

Good point! I almost forgot about that one!
The new reciever I picked up for christmas has those capabilities with the harddrive installed. I can pause live tv if I need to get away for a while!! Or if say, I want to record something and I don't have the vcr set-up yet...Just pause it until your ready. It's really cool!

For an additional 4.99/month I can record, rewind, fastforward, remove commercials and jump ahead and back up to 7 days worth of programming.

Also keep in mind that SPEEDVISION sold and is now owned by FOX and it will start showing only 4-wheel races...no boats or bikes...just my $.02

SpeedVision now call SPEED Channel

SPEED DROPS THE BALL !

Somebodys up to something!

I do not believe, for one second, that SPEED CHANNEL has no interest in the powerboating comsuming public.

Bull.

Somebuddies are up to something--- I'll put money on it.

And if they haven't sold off (SpeedChannel) their boat airing priveleges yet ... they will.

Thanx to the post person who said to check out 'The Outdoor Channel'

BULL BULL BULL.... SPEED has not just walked away from us!

What's up with Speedchannel?

Here's what I know:

Speedchannel is now owned by FOX and they handle their advertising revenues much differently than Speedvision did. They basically want more control of the advertising. Unfortunately, this is what many of the smaller boat racing production companies rely on to pay for their racing program. In other words: They have to play somewhere else.

APBA Offshore is big enough to be able to ink deals with FOX Speedchannel, which they have for 2002. But the smaller venues have more difficulty.

Aero-EFX is the prodution company that produced "Competition Offshore" for the past few years. (http://www.coffshore.com)
These are some of the Speedvision productions they have handled in the past:
The Pacific Offshore
The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series
The Triple Crown of the River
Regattes de Valleyfield
Catalina, CA
ODBA Drag racing
Hampton Inboard Regatta
Kankakee APBA OPC Nationals

Aero-EFX tried to hook up with the new FOX Speedchannel - (and they may be still trying) but I've been told that things looked pretty bleak, and last week they informed me they were hoping to/had inked a similar "Speedvision-type" contract with TOC.

I suppose we'll just have to wait for the press releases for the final word!
I'm just glad they have an option. :)
