All positive experiences has been my finding on the SEI drives during my research of them to replace both my Alphas. Even the marinas have said they are good with no issues as far as reliabilty. Only downside is the paint process is no where near the Merc process. A slip neighbor of mine put one on last spring on his cruiser. When it was hauled out in the fall, I couldn't tell which was the new drive do to the paint not sealing the AL housing and it corroding. Do to that issue alone, I decided on new Merc drives. Took some serious debating which route to go.

The SEI stuff is VERY good!!

I have used their Alphas behind two very powerful small blocks (one in a very heavy boat). Very tough. And the price is too good to pass up.

The paint issue was more of a problem on older drives. The only paint issue I've had is with the bearing cap. The rest of the drive has been good.
