HELP....!what would YOU do
My living area in New York has a freeze warning in effect for tonight and my boat (baja) is in the hoist at the lake with water in the engine. Do you think it will be cold long enough to freeze and hurt something? Would you drive the hour one way to drain it? Please someone chim-in im paranoid right now!!!!! I just bought the boat last month.

Pretty sure it needs to be below freezing for a few days for it to hurt your block. A freeze alert like that will more than likely mean it will only drop down below freezing for a few hours in the dead of night.
I think you will be ok |
Agreed...I wouldn't sweat it, it's gonna take more than a few ticks under 32 for a few hours to freeze the block. I've survived longer.
|
I didnt think it would but ya never know. Thanks for a good night of sleep fellas. My nerves are at ease
|
It needs to drop to 30 for atleast a full day.
If you want comfort and you can't get the water out just leave it in the water overnight. The water will act as a heater assuming the water temperature is above freezing. |
no,youl be ok,it wont freeze the block:coolcowboy:

if it's 45-50 during both days and 28-30 at night you'll be fine. Dropping to low 20's and only getting into the high 30's during the day would send me to the boat. (even that would probably be OK, but I wouldn't sleep that night)

You will be ok. You have nothing to worry about.
|
No worries...

Rule of thumb is below 24* for 24 hours. You will be fine.
