CONTENDER QUOTES

Quotes from Contender joe neber & Maverick Boats james laffew

"An average recreational use, I mean, an enthusiast, is going to put 150 hours a year on a
vessel, maybe 175."

" You've got to keep the boat in the water. You have to keep everything in contact with the sea."

“The boat shouldn't leave the water. A good operator will keep the boat in the water. They're boats, right? They're not airplanes, correct?”

“Because what we're talking about is a vessel that's meant to ride straight and level and stay in the water. That's what all boats are designed for. Okay. Designed for.”

They are designed to withstand a variety of conditions, none of which involves the
prop being out of the water.

Apparently Contender thinks their boats need to stay on plane, in the water

Have them show you how to do it! They make it with 3 big o/b's to fish offshore and props should never leave the water? I would guess you should only run one engine when you hit 1 to 2 foot seas.

This has been a LOOOONG discussion on "the hull truth" and that thread finally got locked down the other day. Like the long hot topic threads here, I stopped reading it some time ago.

Apparently their warranty is void if you go out in 2 foot seas.

What??? Are you implying that hot air tends to go in a circle?

Just a creative way for a company to get out of a contested warranty claims. Can you imagine a boat salesman making those statements to a prospective customer? I think not.

There are a few threads about Contender boats. THT has a wealth of great information. It would be a lot better if it was organized better.

I believe this was one of the first times I saw posts regarding this topic. I was doing a search on Contender boats after seeing some ad for them. The verdict is posted here as well.
