Powerplay 28'

How come there is never any Powerplay 28s for sale in the used market? The only one I remember is Too Old's friends boat that sold last year. Does anybody on the board own one? Does Powerplay produce many? There are alot of 28 Panteras, some 28 ATs & 28 Apaches that OSO members own and talk about (I'm just sticking to the Florida boatbuilders), but no Powerplays. There are alot of Powerplay 33s and I know how awesome they are. Are the 28's comparable on a smaller scale?

There was a 28' PowerPlay in Florida listed in BoatTrader this past winter. I called on it it was a 1999 with twin 350 Mags, loaded, low hours. they were asking somewhere around $55,000

Indy,
Based upon some two year old pricing I have, there only appears to be approx 15% difference between the 28 and 33 with equal power. Being that Powerplay sells mostly factory direct, I assume that the upgrade to a 33 is an easy factory sales upgrade.

I am not speaking from knowledge, but would guess that Powerplay does not make more than 30 boats a year of all their models.

I imagine , thyose that have the few 28's out there keep them.

I have a 92, 33ft. I just finished putting new engines & outdrives in her. This only makes fiscal sense if one intends to keep it for many more years and I do.

Before I get the comebacks - yes I know nothing about boating makes fiscal sense!

Thanks guys...I love the look and the quality of the Powerplay. Fred, I'm with you on the 33, absolutely wonderful boat, but my next boat will probably still be a 28'. Twin BB power and the extra storage, insurance, blah blah would make it tougher on the wallet. Economically, the 28 fits well and is no problem to hang on to. It seems that a 28 with the new 525, or 575 (dreaming) with the new ITS would be a great fit. There is a 28 up here with outboards that looks like a real bad-ass, haven't had an opportunity to talk to him yet. Fred...is that picture you have of the Pantera and Powerplay digital? I'd love to see that one. Both of those boats will be in the running when the time comes. I'm also surprised that the cabin in the Powerplay has a little more headroom. With that flat deck, it wouldn't seem so. From Fred's comments, it would seem that the sun pad on the Powerplay is also smaller than the Pantera. Is that true? After all, gotta keep the lady happy :D

Wes...are you reading this?

Thanks Fred for checking on those pics, it sounds like a very interesting shot. Now that you mentioned the OB 28 up here, it makes sense. I was talking to somebody who knew the person that owned the boat. He said that the boat was not very fast at all, but handled the seas well. That might be it.

:D :D :D Sweet ride Fred. Well enough dreaming, I need to get working on the current ride to get ready for some summer fun.

Man, do I love those lines, both the PP and Pantera, thanks for the pics TOO OLD:D

The Wizard 04-27-2002 11:56 AM

Nice photo's boys,

They do have nice lines, i thought about moving up to 38 ft. but i have to say that I'm ok with the 33. Boat still kepts up with the big boys. My buddy Pat Sullivan ran the 28 PP "Performance Marine" A boat. Boat ran well....

Jassman,

Whats doing buddy? Motors are in and the hatch fits bro,We were worried they wouldn't. The Imco's arrived last week, they come in 2 boxes each. MRD is setting them up today "Saturday". Boat should splash maybe...Wednesday. I let you know how it runs....we're very very curious about the speed...:D :D :D

;)zzie

Hey Ozz, keep me posted, what speed over triple digits are you trying to achieve:D :D :D I agree with you, I like the lines on the 33 better vs the 38, just my opinion. The 38 looks nice and has good headroom, but I like the little squattier 33 bad ass look, Attitude Baby, Attitude!!!:) Take Care
