sorry

Thanks guys! I'll give Naswa resort a call. What town is it near? Do they have a boat launch nearby?

Another destination for us could be Sebago lake, Maine. Biggus, your from there, any comments about that lake for vacation? The wife and my 8 year old will need other things to do besides riding on the boat for a week. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Toolman

NASWA is in Laconia (Weirs Blvd) on Paugus Bay.

Here's a link to their website:

http://www.naswa.com/

If you're bringing your boat, there is a good launch facility (Ames Farm) about 3 miles away.

BTW,

There's plenty of stuff for an 8 year old (and Mom). There's Fun Spot which is supposed to be the worlds largest arcade, The Weirs (arcades, bumper cars), a couple of water parks, etc.

There's also the Mount Washington cruise ship, and a couple of large outlet malls (tax free) within 45 minutes.

Should be no problem filling up a week.

Toolman, Sebago, Longlake (they`re connected by the Songo river) is a very beautiful area, although much quieter than Winni. If you are thinking of heading this way I`d recommend staying in Naples, on Long Lake. The Naples causeway has a lot of stuff for the kids to do, arcade etc. and there is a waterfront bar called Ricks Cafe that has great entertainment at night. The trip down the river and through the locks to Sebago is pretty fun. It takes an hour or two depending on the wait at the lock. The locks are the oldest hand operated locks in the country and they are run by the state park rangers. The Songo then passes right through the park for about 6 miles.Lots of animals to spot and last year we watched a moose swim across the river and run along the bank for about 100ft! Sebago is a really big lake and there are several beaches to hang out at and relax and a couple of restaurants to tie up at.

To sum it up, Winni has alot to do and in many areas of the lake it is very commercialized. Up here it is much more laid back and relaxing.and if you are boating on Winni with unmuffled through transom exhaust be prepared to get fined for excessive noise:mad: The water cops there are relentless, I have the tickets taped to my shop fridge!

Kurt.

Info on the 2002 Easter Seals poker run on Winni. The last stop is
the Naswa. Did this event last year and it was a good time for a great cause.

Was there this weekend. IT was cold, but great to get in the boat finally!

jollyroger 04-28-2002 09:57 PM

We was there...

The Donzi was in the water saturday morning and saturday afternoon we was at the "Fancy! A friend of mine splashed his 350Mag/BlackHawk powered Donzi X-18... Hell of a ride on a semi-cold spring day on Winni... I still have the ice cream headache from that ride....

Woodsy:D :D

Hey Woodsy,

PBM is putting on the K-planes I got from you. Looking forward to getting the boat in, but doesn't look like dock repairs will be done for a few more weeks. That boat house sounds mighty fine about now.

Bet that ride was cold as a mutha!

I'll try to hook up once I get the boat in and maybe try that 25P mirage if the offer is still good.

Karl
