I just found this while searching and wondered if this is the size of anchor that I need for a 35' Fountain? Do I also need a chain with this? If so, how long? Thanks.

I have the Fortress FX-16 for my 35' Sonic..... the few times I used it it held so well I almost had to cut it loose.... After seeing how well it held in our waters (muddy /bottom) I went and bought the next size smaller (FX-11). This anchor holds me with no problem when anchored in a calm cove and is almost half the size of the fx-16. I keep both on board in case of emergency...... they are so light it amazes me how they hold so well.......good luck...........John.

and yes as far as I can see chain is needed...... the chain helps the anchor take set properly.......I use the rubber coated chain so I don't scratch the boat........

FX-16 is overkill for a 35 Fountain. Yesterday, my FX-7 with 6' of chain was holding my 26 Chaparral, a 33 Outlaw, a 303 Formula, and a 232 Rinker in a 10 MPH wind. Key is plenty of scope. Getting the sucker to pull up out of the mud at the end of the day was not fun!!

Most boats I survey with Fortress anchors in that size range have the FX-11 with the vinyl-clad chain.

Yep. Fortress's recommendations are based on cruiser-type weights and windages. I called them and they stated that the FX-11 was plenty for a 38' / 12,000 lb go-fast. They were right, as long as it's not too weedy.

Really appreciate the replies. The FX-11 it is! Does anyone know who has the best prices? Anyone on the Board sell? Thanks.
