Need 00-03 Diesel Truck
Been looking around for Diesel pick up. After my Avalnche was totaled seems a diesel is best way to go. Id like an Extra cab shortbed nr a 4 door short bed. Ford Chevy Dodge any of the sort. Looking to spend around 9K or so (rest of my cash is tied in that s.o.b. paint job. Anyway though id give this a shot
Thanks

Your best bet is the latest model 7.3L PSD Ford you can find in that vintage/price range.
2003 is the last year of the 7.3L PSD. Many 2003s actually have 6.0s and you will have to verify the engine.
2001-02 Duramax's had some fuel injector issues, which is an expensive issue, but the engines and transmissions are solid otherwise.
ALL of the Dodge automatic transmissions SUCK of that vintage, but if you can find a rebuilt or upgraded tranny truck, that's a good deal too. The 12 and 24 valve Cummins are strong.

I was shopping in the same year range because they were at my price point at the time.
To me the best truck was the 7.3 Ford - the Lariat package is nice, and in the interior is better to me than the dodge.
Your world, but I would get the long bed, it will provide more stability towing, and you will get used to it immediately....
Just my opinion...

I have a 2000 ford f250 crew cab lariat 4x4 diesel that i'm going to sell. It was a one owner pickup with 118k miles just traded on a new one. I've been driving it for last couple weeks seems very tight. Its dark blue with tan bottom and tan leather interior. Let me know if this might wok for you.

If you buy Ford get the 7.3. Best diesel in your price range is the 12 or 24 valve Cummins and they are cheap to hot rod and can make stupid amounts of hp/tq. 12 valves are hard to find though...
