So "they" are saying that the area above the well will fracture and we'll be dealing with a "mile longish" crack that seeps oil?? Is that what I'm reading. Forgive me for asking dumb questions. Oil isnt one of my specialties LOL

Yeah, I'm guessing your specialty is baby oil.

Bill, follow that link in post 511 and it will give you an overview. The sand in the oil, and the oil, is eroding the well casing and the surrounding seabed. At some point the well pipe will be ejected from the hole and then... ???

Man, I hope they get that relief well there in time.

Plus the toxic dispersant's they added creating this submarine Oil slick condition. They needed to let it rise to the surface and be skimmed but time has ran out for that option protecting our shore lines.

There is a system using supertankers for huge vacuum cleaners but that was turned down long ago.

Last month, a group of oceanographers and University people estimated somewhere in the 40k to 90k range. Their estimates were dismissed, BP refused to let them measure it more precisely, and many supported BP saying the amount wasn't important.

I guess in a roundabout way it isn't, because they really have no way of stopping it, and they all knew that some time ago. Me thinks that over the next decade, companies that come up with workable solutions, newfangled devices and the like to deal with these types of spills, might be a pretty good business to be in. The only way it would work is if the companies were mandated to buy the equipment, and keep it handy to the drilling sites.

I'll bet a lot of the legislators and governors in those affected areas wish they had never opened their mouths in 2008.

Obama amazes me. First he says we'll be out of Afganistan by summer time. Now he says the oil will be controlled by next week.
What does he think when he makes these timelines that aren't going to happen.

Because that's what people want to hear....it is what got him elected. I'm pretty sure I even heard him say that the Gulf would be cleaner then before this event. You would think that people would start to catch onto his BS, but they don't.
