Do you guys think there is a market for this???
What you all think?? This is a custom polished stainless wing plate for external steering, on a extension box.. Just curious if you all think there could be a market for these for the people who like all the shiny stuff on there boats

Pretty damn strong I would think, stronger then the stuff out now, esp since the ones they sell are made out of cast aluminum. This is solid stainless steel.. all 1/8'' wings, cover, half inch stainless flange.. Can do pretty much do what ever somebody would like..

even with boxing it in,1/8 is a little light in my mind to handle all the stress,just my 2 cents bro ...it looks great but if you can't pick the boat up with it it will fail.Most of the sst wings I have delt with are solid 3/8 or 1/2 .............how much do you want for somthing like that?

Not going to get in a p-----ng match over this BUT!!!! the force on a steering bracket is pushing against the bracket not up not down.Take two 1/8th inch stainless plates 5" wide by 10 inches long tack weld them together.Place them on edge and see if could bend them.I don't think so and this is also boxed,but I bet they could break a alum one.The place it is pushing against on the box is only 1/2 thick alum.Where this bolts on at the wing is 1/2 stainless steel.And as I said I can make them any thickness.And just because a boat may weigh example.10,000 lbs it does not take 10,000 lbs of force to steer it.The bolts that hold the steerng clevis are only 1/2" or 5/8ths and a boat of that size would have 2 brackets. The steering pins in a alpha and a bravo are only 3/8" Just my 2 cents not trying to be a ass but think about it JOHN SR

Two 304 1/8" Steel Plates that are 2" wide (for example) with a 1/2" hole drilled in the middle in tension, 10000lb load, stress applied is 27,000psi. The yield strength of 304SS is 31,000psi, ultimate strength is 73,000psi.
More important than trying to hang the boat by the wingplate, the hydraulic systems can't get close to that kind of force. In the case of my hynautic, with a 900psi relief valve and 1.5" diameter piston, it will generate only about 1600 pounds of force before the relief valve bypasses fluid. Applied to the case above, stress would be 4200psi, safety factor of over 7 compared to yield strength.

I can do just about any style or type you might want.Give me a demeinsion you would want and hole pattern for your needs.And for 450.00 or a few bucks more! really would have know some type of measurment.I then would be able to give you a exact price. Let me know JOHN SR At [email protected]
