Default New Drive - break in ?

New Drive going on my boat today. Its a Bravo 1 in front of a 575HP.

Is there a break in for a new drive like a tranny? Or just have at it and check the oil ?

Yes. regular B1. first one made it 6 years did not want to get into a gimbal swamp in the middle of july or I would have went to a XR.

Lotsa luck. My Bravo 1 lasted 7 hours after I repowered to a 525. The XR seems to be holding up. Boat is only 22'. You could give new meaning to the term "break in"!

New drive is on and seems to be doing fine. I put just over a hour on it and took it out for a fluid change saturday.

Only one thing that is bugging me, my idle rpm jumped up quite a bit. Its a efi motor and we only changed the drive. Would a new drive have less resistance of something?

I have had the boat 4 years and never had a idle issue, just swamped the drive and its high now ..

You do NOT need to change Gimbals to go to an XR. Just the Gimabl bearing. It should not need any real break in. Just take it easy the first hour or so.
