My suggestion is find the boat you want and tow it first. I think you'll find the Porsche will not tow a 28'-33' boat very well, especially full of fuel and other gear.

A 3/4 ton diesel is what you need.

Look to see if you can find a Superboat Y2K. Great boats.

My 28 Pantera had 120 gallon tank and they changed to a 140 gallon tank in about 1998. Mine weighed about 7500# full of fuel and gear on an aluminum trailer.

Get a Truck first then get a boat. Or a pair of Seedoos for the Porsche. Pulled a mastercraft to ramp 2 miles w my ML500. Rated for it YES get on the Highway with it Never.

I'd sleep on my 28' Checkmate Convincor provided it wasn't too hot. Happy with the boat so far. Picked it up for under $40k.

I didn't buy a 29' Scarab because one criteria was to be able to sit upright in the cabin, which I couldn't. I'm 6'. Matters to some, not to others.

Gasoline is 6.2xxx pounds per gallon. 700 lbs of fuel is only ~112 gallons.

26' Sonic has a 102 gallon tank, which is only a 25' boat. These calculations are not outside of scope.

Of course, no one figures in that the MAX tow rating of a vehicle is with ONLY a DRIVER aboard. No passengers, dogs, luggage, coolers, beer, tools, stereo equipment, etc. etc.

Then you can EASILY add 1000 lbs. of gear to a boat figuring stereo, anchor(s), lines, tools, fenders, spare parts, spare tire on the trailer, tool box on the trailer with a jack and tools in it, etc. etc.

I towed my 26' Sonic at 7280 lbs. with a 2-door (SHORT wheel base) 4x4 Tahoe for a couple seasons. I DON'T recommend towing anywhere close to your max rating.

There is no such thing as too much truck. You want spare truck in reserve, when you need it. Like when the neighbor's kid 4 doors down from you pulls out in front of you on his bicycle, on the neighborhood street while you are doing 35mph. As such, just towing locally or not long distance doesn't hold water either.


Want an eye opener? Haul down to your local truck stop and have your whole rig weighed. Then go drop the trailer in the parking lot and get a weight on the truck so you can subtract it out of the whole rig weight.

If you have not done this before, I guarantee you will be surprised.

i know of one in the Tampa area that could be bought for the right price :evilb:
