sealant/adhesive used on K-planes

What is the name of the sealant/adhesive that is used for K-planes, exhaust tips, etc?

Thanks

I use 3m 4200. Dont use 5200 as you will never get them off. Walmart, West Marine should have it.

Formula31,

Thanks. 5200 must have been what they used from the factory! That stuff is STRONG! I'll use the 4200 in case I ever have to remove them again. :D

These are different questions !!
I use black RTV sealant for wetted exhaust pipe joints. Seals well & is easily removable. Easy to clean up messes on installation also. Marine silicone sealant for hull penetrations.....can't think of the name now but 3M is good also. :)

I have beedn told silicone works loose and not to use it

Dont use 3m 5200 , if u ever have to take them off, you'll rip the gelcoat off the hull! I know from experience! Use the 3M 4200. its better suited for that use. :)

if you need to remove somthing bedded in 5200,try a product called KYRPTONITE ADHEASIVE REMOVER spray it on and 20-25
min later on most things it pops offwith no damage to gel kote
