AnyBody Know the good, bad,& ugly on Sage Drives?
Master Minds,
Sage Drives , I don't know anything about them. I saw a set on a 46' Skater with sterlings. Are they strictly race and or pleasure? Who makes them and address or phone# ? What can anybody tell me about them ? Good, bad, & Ugly on them ? Thanks allot Cougarman |
There was an article in the latest POWERBOAT
Magazine on the drives. Also, there was an ad for these in the same issue... sorry don't have the info with me at work. |
If I remember correctly they are $30,000 ea.

Also, try Pat Patel, I think his Skater has Sage drives, saw it last year at Skater Fest, what an awesome boat...

Why not use a Drop-Center ASD #8 to begin with?
Best Regards:confused: |
ASDs tend to make the boat run "bow down" because of the prop shaft angle and _sometimes_ there are steering issues. Here is the link for Sage:

The first picture I saw of the Sage the Nosecone coupler was not shown Clearly!! and how does the thing trim in and out? I only see up and down ,Also am very well aware of shaft angles .as once upon a time I did a stint with Arneson Engineering.. the setup has A Rube Goldberg Appearance to say the least..:)

There is a very good article about them in this months Powerboat...I am glad I got the subscription, I am learning a lot...It goes into some pretty good detail...and the article does metion John Tomlinson as a source, he is"testing" the Sage drives

It looks like with added length it might put an end to stern tying at the dock
