Okay...it is going to be run two weeks from today. Still time to get your boat ready and enter.

You will have all winter to tell your friends about your experience of running in this race. If you don't do it, how sorry will you be?

The finishers are the guys and girls who will run just fast enough to be there at the end.....the hot rod show offs will be calling for their trailers at Montauk.

It won't take a billion dollar race boat to compete here, just the will to do it and see it through.

They are not the die hards that would actually consider doing this event. You couldnt even get anyone in CT to do a real poker run the years that PRA did an event and this year with the NPBA!!

Are you guys doing the Aronow race? Maybe it is just me (or maybe not just me) but I don't see the draw in the poker runs. A big entry fee, you have to join the boat club putting on the event and then you go out and run a 75 plus mile course with no stopping anywhere. I think if there where card stops where you can stop grab a sandwich or something and make a full day of it, but pulling up to a boat to get a card and running the course as fast as you can for bragging rights only works if you have a 100mph boat and even then many of us don't see the enjoyment in that not to mention spend a $1,000 plus on the day. No thanks I would rather fuel up my boat run with a couple of others cruise over to Block for the day have lobsters hang out with friends and have a great boat ride there and back and still have enough money to use my boat more the once a week or more then two times a month like some of these guys.

The actual run is only a small part of the whole event. Usually people make it a 3 or 4 day weekend. Lots of fun with friends and some of the larger events do raft-up parties etc the day before or after the official run. I love them. Would do them every weekend.

Bingo!! What else is better than running with a large group of performance boats! You dont have to run WOT if you dont want to. It supports the industry that well all love. Its better than all the guys in CT that only go to claudios or the pavillion and thats it!! What a waste of a boat. Especially since its give or take 10 miles.

Unfortuantly we wont be doing the event since I have a tennis match and my parents have a wedding. But we would if we could. You can do a poker run and still run your boat more than twice a month. Most everyone does. It sure beats going to the same exact place all the time.

A "run" is where you spend a lot of money on a race bred hull, horsepower and paint and then park the thing at a few waterfront cocktail lounges and loudly boast how long your pecker is.

Sadly, today, there aren't many racers, and a lot of sexy equipment is wasted. It's kind of like all the dentists with Turbo Porsche's that are driven mostly to the nearest up-scale mall on Saturday's.

That was great!

I agree this sounds like a good time. It is definately not what happens on the runs here in CT. I guess I need a trailer for my boat?

I agree Dan there is some nice hardware at the marina that goes 10 miles to Claudios and the Pavilion, what a waste they need to get those boats out in the ocean and go Newport or Marthas Vineyard or something. But I guess to each their own.
