Default Surveyors (1) for Engines (1) for Boat?

For those who have hired a survey on a boat, did you use two different surveyors, one for the boat, one for the engine(s) or did you just hire a single person?

thanx

if the surveyor is competant i would use a single for both hull and engines...

if you are buying a high end boat (cig, outerlimits, mti, etc) i would probably hire 2. one whom specializes in high performance engines and the other whom inspects hulls. remember most of your investment in these types of boats resides in your engine compartment...

another deciding factor is your own ability...if you know a lot about engines and drives and plan on doing the majority of your own work, the need for a specialized surveyor may not be necesary. the same holds true for fiberglass...if you know how to glass and repair hulls you may not put a lot of emphasis on surveying that portion of the boat if you can do the work yourself

thats my logic for what its worth...
