I think having a major sponsor backing a super fast boat draws fans and increases attendance as well as increases the awareness to our sport.
The other thing it does (imho) is advance technology that we all benefit from one way or another. Performance boaters watch what the fastest boats are running and typically follow in one way or another.

I have the most vivid memory of you and your racing team, all in uniform, sitting in Sloppy Joe's early one evening during the Key West Worlds one year. You guys had pulled several tables together. The next day was a non-racing day so you were all relaxed and in great spirits.
Fan after fan came up to the table, or walked by and offered encouragement. You and you guys were the epitome of class and grace. You made every fan who stopped by feel important, and you seemed genuinely grateful for their support.
You guys were good for the sport. You were embassadors.

Without a doubt Dave, everyone usually follows you .... which only means one thing, you're in the lead !!!
Great performance in LOTO as expected..
Now it's MGR's turn this weekend to be making waves !!!
I still feel blessed to witness the day your boat and Miss Geico went head to head in St Clair !!
You all are the top Professionals in this crazy sport of Offshore.
See St Clair Video here:
One day I will get (real) video equipment....

I also remember that race on the St. Clair River as one of my favourites. Besides being one of the fastest races in Offshore, the crowds were going crazy each time the Bud Select and Miss Geico raced around the course. One other moment I won't forget was seeing Mark and Scotty, who was carrying the Checkered Flag after the race and marching down the main street to the Bud Select Trailer where JT and Dave Scot were and Scotty gave Dave a big hugh, as they both knew that this race was something special and you could see the respect that they both had for each other.

Thank you Matt. We weren't pretending - we have always valued our fans and friends (one in the same as far as I'm concerned).
As far as the St. Clair race goes, that was some exciting "deck-to-deck" racing that I'm certain none of us will ever forget
