V-Bottom with pad 20'-22' 1995-2005 what are my options??

I currently have a 1990 20'7" Eliminator V bottom with pad, which I love the way it rides. Flys high, fast 80 MPH with a 454 Magnum.

Comfortable with the 80 MPH range.

Looking top move up to a newer mint boat. What I/O, love the sound. Drove my brothers Lavey craft 22, feels real heavy and the steeped hull feels strange to me (might be fast, but you can't trim it up and ride on the transom like mine)

Love the quality fit and finish of Lavey Craft, Eliminator, Cougar, & Ultra (others are out there, but I have not seen them in person, so can't comment) HAS to be gel, not stickers on a white boat (rare these days on normal boats)

What models should I be looking for? Will also consider open bow (like the 20.5 skier) as I have little son now, and I think he'll love to ride up front when he is a bit older.

Something with 300MPI magnum, or 502, or 496.

Something that will get up an out of the water @ speed.

P.S. Wanted a tunnel, but had a scary situation my self, so chicken for a while!

P.P.S. Would consider a modified tunnel, as I understand they run on the v in the middle, and have the lift of the smaller tunnels?

Velocity = Pad bottom, this boat is an 2007. I am not affiliated with the advertisement or the boat. I thought this may guide you in your search.

Hi!

Check out Progression boats from US. They a have a very fast and strong handling 24 foot boat. Or try to get hold of a Phantom 23 from UK. Great hulls.

Good call with the Progression. That would be a very good boat indeed.

Hi Smarty,

Grats with the US Phantom 34. My dream for many years. I have a UK 25 feet Phantom. Also a good alternative for 2slow4me. However, hard to get hold of.

I'll also chime in on the Progression line. I own a 22' and love it. Another member here (laster) has a 24' that runs 95 MPH with a Whipple charged 502. The next best thing to a bullet proof hull. Great handling and they love rough water.

I thought Sutphen just used a shallow deadrise, not a pad, to get that speed.

CMC 10-13-2010 05:18 PM

The 21 Sutphen has a slightly flattened off area of about 3 inches, which may not be considered a traditional pad. It has a 20 degree deadrise. I can say that this boat with this power may be the most "user friendly" 21 footer made.
