the stuff I have noticed with the biggest "profit" are vacation stays, etc.

like a sandals vacation. cruise, hotel stays at nice hotels even if they are local to you.

Seems like at least half the people interested in say, an ipod, know what they cost so they only bid up to that amount. others bid higher but there is more competition on the vacation type stuff where there is little to no frame of reference. Plus... the hotel usually gives it for nothing or cheap anyway.

but this is for auction stuff, so take it FWIW.
