It's actaully possible with open ocean rollers, the wave frequency is a lot more forgiving than with much tighter waves often found in smaller bodies of water. I've been in similar water in a 17' Yamaha. I thought we were going to die (no joke), but I got us home with it. Thank god it had a closed bow!

Regardless, I have little interest in going out in anything under 100' once the water gets that big...

LOL sometimes that is not enough,I was at the Genoa show a while back and there was a 112 foot Falcon Yacht and the crew was moaning about taking it out for a run with a customer, it was kind of nasty that day,the water around there gets real "Bumpy".

I was referring to feeling 'safe'. I dont mind being tossed around, even cruse ships get tossed around in decent size seas. But, it's a really bad feeling being out in big water in a small boat, it's very, very humbling!

Yes I got caught in a storm off Cape Hatteras before in a fishing boat.

The Welcraft V20 is a great hull! The bow flair really helps it in rough seas... When I was growing up it was "the" center contsole to get.. they have great resale as well.

I know how that guy feels after taking my 22' center console out of the water on Saturday.

It's a short ride from the house to the ramp, but it was one of the nastiest days I can remember being out on the bay.

I like where he said the boat "is very fast and will run 45mph".
