DID YOU MISS THE PART THAT HAGGIN IS RETIRING? NOT THE TEAM.

Geico is continuing involvement, that will support the efforts in any class or organization they choose.

So Haggin was just the front man? GEICO owned the team not Haggin? He sure spent a lot of his own money being a front man. Who's going to take his place?

I think the only logical person would be you along with Jimmy Carter in case any negotiations need to be had to hold a race in a Communist or Radical Islamic country :evilb:

DS is "retired" as well, but still finds the time to put up new Top Gun records for people to chase, between his Hopscotch action. :drink:

Now THAT right there is funny!

Not sure how Haggin's retirement would effect anything that pertains to the lawsuit. He was not the one the filed it.
As I recall, it was Geico Corporate "The Company" that filed the lawsuit, not Haggin.

Tim, you are absolutely correct. I have a copy of the filing, which was provided to me by the attorney for Geico when I reported on the lawsuit. Mr. Haggin's name is not listed anywhere on the filing. Geico is listed as the plaintiff. End of discussion on this one.

As for what will happen to the AMF/Geico team, I don't think anyone really "knows." This is new stuff that was announced just four days ago.

Geico and AMF should bring back The Factory Classes.

The most competitive racing I have ever witnessed were the world championships held in St. Pete in 2000.

The "class attendance" was unbelievable.

I remember (approximately)

15 - 18 F-1
20 - 22 F-2 boats (including the one Stinson put upsidedown LOL!)
17-18 Supercats

Absolutely amazing racing to watch

BAD APPLE 10-21-2010 11:56 AM

Sarasota 1998 my first race
24 Factory 2 boats
SBI Key West Worlds 18 at the start!!!
That was great racing. Back when racers wanted to race other boats not just collect trophies and flags and make new classes!!!

Those were the days when "those who knew better" complained endlessly about the rules and the sanctioning body, wasn't it? :party-smiley-004:

Hindsight is not always 20-20, but it's usually much better that what you see through the red mist...
