Talking who runs the xpower drive

I thought this drive was going on the market last year. though they were going to sell them retail a year ago. so is anyone running them, are they holding up to big power? it seemed they had a bunch made all set to sell, after a few more tests. just wondering what happened???

I'm pretty sure I saw a set on a Skater at the St Clair race this year. It was on display by the hotel.

Yeah it seems like there is some real potential with that drive.

It looked as if the geartrain/power transmission capabilities were good, but pushing that kind of power through a Bravo-stlye gimbal and transom assembly would seem to be the weak link. Could be a good bolt-on upgrade for Bravo-equipped boats, kind of along the lines of some of IMCO's offerings.

Thanks for the link...I looked those pics over real hard.
No gear shots but i still don't see where the magic comes from...?
Also, does it not make a differance if water builds up under the top cap with those pulleys and belts?

I just called Jim S. aka "JIMKID Motorsports", and asked him to chime in, on this thread. He can almost certinally answer your questions.

Cool looking drives, they look crazy strong in person. They run SSM#6 props.

If they can get the price down a more reasonable level, they would be great. Last I heard they were still in the $35k a side level, which IMO is a bit out of touch with the general boating public that is searching for a stronger bravo style replacement.

Take Imco SCX for example. seems to be pretty strong, and only $13k.
