My engine builder who builds lots of race motors, both car and marine and Tyler Crocket both suggested I run Brad Penn "Green" oil.

Semi syn, lots of zinc phosphate. I change it every 10 hrs in my 900 blower motor.

We use Redline oil, and it works great. I have also heard good things about the Joe Gibbs stuff, and the Mobil-1 V-Twin oil.

FYI, the original Kendall oil that made the Kendall name famous is now Brad Penn. The kendall name was bought out a few years back and is not what it used to be.

wrong

I tried the Brad Penn and after 5 hours started to burn past the rings with a blackened transom.

I'm not a big fan of Brad Penn either. Our 8.1 GMC lost 10lbs of oil pressure with it. Also, if you google "brad penn kendall," you'll get some better info about how the original kendall oil is now Brad Penn.

The redline 20/50 is good chit, I took apart a couple engines that had massive reversion problems, the bearings were in really good shape considering how much water was in there. It's really popular with blown alky racers too. I've used lots of Gibbs as well. Good stuff.

Turbo
Dig up the massive lubricants thread by Hydrocruiser and you will get plenty of information to make your choice. Lots of info. out there. There are several good choices, with any of them, you should be great if you change it frequently. Can't believe we haven't had an update from Hydro. lately.

I will mention this again about what has been said about Mobil 1 or any oil for that matter.

If it produces a surface that is so slick that the rollers will not roll then would it not be so slick that it would not create enough friction to flat spot them?

My thoughts!

Common sense agrees with this.

I have been a firm believer to keep using the brand oil that was used in the engine before. Going from the mobile 1 (oil that may have been used) to kendall anyone know if any problems doing such? I am thinking staying with the mobile 1.
