IMO it is over done. I have seen the older Formulas updated like this many times and they never look right. Simple is better because the Hull itself has a lot going on with body lines, tucks, creases, etc. When the update is done it makes the boat look like an even older boat that has been attempted to be updated.
The best looking older formulas are simple. only a couple colors or one solid color. Take this for what it is worth

I think the fat black stripe near the middle of the hull needs to be thinned also a little more silver to break up the red and black might make the boat look longer. I am working on these colors for my saber red/silver/black. with fades and thinner stripes to make the boat look longer slim.
