For the Race Weekends, you'll need one of the following:
OR BOTH

I use the 300, and Pete uses the 500, or you could trump any of us, and go out & buy the mother of all Super-Telephotos:

The EF 800 5/6 IS

For a Cool, $10,900 + Tax & Shipping.
James,

You are definitely, way out of my league!

I am one of those, that actually reads the manual, thoroughly. If you buy good stuff, you might as well use it properly, right?

I had been shooting JPG, so I basically just crop using Adobe Photoshop.

"Sharpen Photos", what exactly do you mean by that?

I always thought the "King" of all lenses was the Sigma 200-500 2.8, teleconverted to 1000 f/5.6.

PS: I know Jeff (FFV), and Jay (NaplesImage), real well, and also know Pete a bit.

Oh now don't breaking on my lens. We use it on our D300 and D 90 which is much lighter than the D300. We use a mono-pole to steady it and save our arms.. My son got some great shots at LOTO with it. Unfortunately we can't post any from party cove! Mom might be lurking.

Nice job Frank! I will be down your way next week. Maybe you will catch me coming down the Myaka out to the harbor from my Dad's place. He is all the way up river or down Jennings/Gillot.

25 Proline Walk.

Thanks.

I am about 3 miles up the Myakka river past the 776 bridge. Call me, and I will go out to the end of my dock (its 360 ft straight out) and shoot you.

O:941-697-0200, if I am out of the office, it fowards to my cell.

My 14 years old son and I were just discussing the eclipse. If I get up and shoot it, I will post them.

I caught the lunar eclipse back in Oct 2004. It turned orange and was very cool to watch. It was 2 cameras ago, not great, but here is what I got.
