LS engines in marine use and exhaust choices

I am interested in learning if anyone has successfully run a modern LS (Small block) motor for marine use. I have a client who wants to install 2 into what was an original 350 ci SBC boat. Also, does Stainless Marine make exhaust for this head? I would prefer to use Stainless Marine as they are more reliable then CMI or other tube headers stellings, etc.

I understand that motor mounts and bell housings will need to be different as well, any parts suppliers for change over for marine use would be very helpful.

Thanks for your input; the boat is being rigged with help and guidance from this site.

you might want to check out a couple big threads over at
Performanceboats.com- quite a few guys have successfully
rigged a couple jetboats with ls engines-one member is riggin'
a turbo setup rt now.... Tom @ jetboatperformance has

I believe JIMKID Motorsports on here has a set of LS7s in a skater.

Chris - Raylar's LSM-550 has custom stainless headers. Not sure who makes them. I don't know of any manifold style exhaust systems for LS engines.

What boat will these go in? I am very interested in this type of swap. Thanks.

There is also a brand of manifold style exhaust out there but the name eludes me at the moment. LS engines make killer power for their cubic inch.

There's a new stroker 427 GM crate motor for sale locally $10k I believe. Might make a good base for your build. Also, my guys at Champion are well versed in the LS engines and they have the full CAD programs for the LSX blocks and a killer head porter if you want to make some serious power.

My last ride was a '99 Z that dynoed 450hp at the rear wheels with only simple mods like cam, tune, etc. Became a fan of the LS after that car.

Kodiak makes a marine 6.0 engine, they also have a supercharged version. They were making the LS, but I don't see it listed anymore.

Marine Power makes an LS 6.2 and I think they are working on a superchaged version.

Ilmor is building complete 6.0 and 6.2 packages, primarily for ski boats (transmissions), but I'm sure they would be willing to talk about a plug-in.

Here ya go. lsx 376 490hp bowtie block

GM Performance Parts is pleased to announce the launch of our first crate engine in the LSX family.
GM has taken the heavy duty LSX block and combined it with the production LS3 components. This includes the High flow LS3 heads and an upgraded forged dished piston to keep the compression at 9.0 /1. This combination creates a high-revving LSX376 crate engine that runs on pump gas, A unique platform for any project.
The engine delivers exceptional air flow capability in a straight forward packaging even without any power-adder. The LSX376 is built without an intake manifold so you can top it with a carburetor or production-style injection system.
The LSX376 comes with only a dust cover instead of an oil pan so you can order what is correct to your application. Just one more way to keep the costs down and not include parts you can't use.

Thats amazing. Thank you all for your imput and suggestions. Keep them coming. What we are trying to accomplish is a SBC engine 2011 style. Light, but has the power. Sure we could build another Hardcore 454 SBC but we would rather have the flow of the new LS motors. The engines would go in a older 80s style boat. Mums the word for now as we want to make sure it will happen before we start yapping. Think 27 magnum with a twist.

i knew this site would give us the toold to build juice. stay tuned
