That was 1989.

Have you owned it since 89' ?

Since Velocity did it with their 31 footer back in 1980 or 81, I would suggest that a larger pleasure Vee did it within a couple of years after that. Fountain was just beginning and only had the 10 meter (33 foot) Excalibur Executioner but they were pretty fast. I would guess that Apache or Velocity did it by 1985. Certainly the Open Class Vees were running over 100 by then and the big triple engine Cougars and Apaches also were available. Since some "pleasure boats" sported everything from Gale Banks Chryslers to full race Mercruiser and Eickhert power back then , the power was certainly available.

Hard to say, who, specifically, was first.

Wasn't allez vite the first boat ever rigged with 6's?

Upon further reflection, the above is simply wrong!

Sorry: getting old is tough.

Allez Vite was originally rigged with C & G 850's, and did not run 100. I built it to be a pleasure boat, but entered it in an OPT race in Grand Haven because it was near where I kept it (Saugatuck).

We had so much fun, and did so well, that we raced it for several seasons, but at the same time used it more as a pleasure boat (e.g. Ft. Lauderdale to Key West, Saugatuck to Chicago).

I switched to Carolina Racing in 1990, but she still would not break 100.

It was only after we switched to Merc 1000 SC's in 1991 that she ran 104 @ Lake X.
