MA is easy actually. The only thing I hate is that they have the ban on certain guns made after a certain date. I can't remember what that date was but that has been my only gripe. If I want to cary out of Mass into most states you have to apply for a permit. If you have a license in MA you will get that permit in almost any state no problem because of the requirements that we have being strickter then most states. If you can not get a gun in MA (as a resident) then there is a reason and frankly I am gladd you don't have one :drink:

Illinois waters in Lake Michigan are a little hard to define without looking at a map, however the one found at this site gives a pretty good idea.
http://www.yellowmaps.com/map/illinois-base-map-13.htm As far as carrying a gun with you within those borders, especially a handgun (and using it) expect some court time if you're caught. There is no CCW in IL, and to have one with you, it must be in a latched case with the ammo stored in another location inaccessible to the driver. It can be out of its case on your own property (only inside your home in Chicago) or at an approved range. Outside those borders on that map, and you will now be under the jurisdiction of IN, MI, or WI law, depending on your location. Since IL has no CCW, there is no reciprocity. I highly recommend against firing any gun other than shotguns while out on the water, and you're only legal with steel or tungsten shot now if using those. Bullets will ricochet easily off the water's surface, and you can't determine proper backstop like you can while at a range or hunting. It's your life (and guns) but IL, Chicago, (and sometimes the USCG) loves to turn some of this stuff into trumped-up felonies of one sort or another, (especially handgun violations) and if you're convicted, they'll make sure you won't own a gun the rest of your days.
