Mike ran the boat in Lake Mac for a very short ride, noticed the oil temp climbing up towards 260 degrees, and idled back to the ramp. Several hydraulic lifters are noisy, but the engine has 60 psi oil pressure. We'll need to open the engine up and see what's going on.

Does this mean that I nead bring the inflable raft? lol.

In all seriousness though, sure hope that it turns out to be nothing and that you can have it back together in time! :(

If you lost a cam then usually the oil filter will catch anything that would do damage. Just flush the motor out real good - I used fuel oil- pull the distributor and pump the oil filter with a drill. Keep changing the filter untill it comes out clean. ( cut the filter open.)Don't turn the motor over untill you have oil back in it. Change the cam and lifters and then flush some more. Put oil in and run the motor for 5 minutes and change the oil. Run it again to break in the cam ( 20 minutes at 2000 rpm ) and change the oil again.( change the filter each time also ) If you find any big chunks in the filter that came off the engine from your outing than you should change the oil pump and check the bearings. I lost 2 cams on one motor and used this process to clean it up - when I rebuilt the motors the next year there wasn't any damage to anything. Learned not to use synthetic oil on break in .
