I agree. Apache is by design a twin engine big block boat.

When Harry Schoell designed the 28 pantera hull it was made for twin small blocks (from what I remember researching post on OSO).

The fact that the 28 pantera is a Harry Schoell design alone gives it significant pedigree.

never knew that about the Pantera. sorry to get off topic but.....

I have often wondered how a 28 Pantera with a race cockpit, no cabin, full stagger, small blocks with 450-500hp per motor would run.

I bet that would be a friggin wild machine. Like a 'mini' 41 Apache raceboat.

If I won the lottery I would have Jo and Pepe build me one.

I always tell people if I win the lotto the Saber is getting the big Illmors and Indy drives, lose almost a thousand pounds and gain 600hp would be wild.

Notice the guys with 28's that don't have any kind of rough water cred claim "28 is 28".....I claim BS.

As stated, balance, deadrise, steps, weight, build all come into play. If anyone wants to claim their 22 degree stepped 28 with a glass windshield handles rough like my PP...... May be faster on normal water, but not safer/more comfortable when it get's snotty.

No different than a 38 isn't a 38, etc. There's a reason Apache, etc have the rep they do.

its pretty simple really: Kryptonite for inland rivers/ lakes & Pantera for ocean/coastal water ---like everyone stated you have to determine what suits your use.

Pantera--mini-apache ...thats says it all!

Kryptonite--fast hot rod ,handles small chop nicely for stepped hull

both are my favorites for single engine

The Warlock 29ft and Activators(now RAGE i believe) are hell of a hull in this class...they are a cross of these 2 concentrated more on speed. I rode in the Purple Haze Warlock in the pantera viedo and its a confidence inspiring ride. Alot of good things to say about activators also, other than trying to turn them at speed(a no no!)

The Kryptonite is FAR from a bay boat. Trust me on that.
