You guys are hilarious.

I appreciate all the emails, advice and words of optimism, but...

got back to the house a little while ago from TNT and popped the lenses off and the prognosis ain't good. The bucket of water I carried them in had a layer of what looked like gray dust on the bottom. I guess the vibration from the ride shook it loose.

Those Nikon batteries are huge and they were fully charged. The electrodes on the one that was turned on are burned completely away.

There are multiple holes all over both bodies from electrolysis- several of the buttons/switches have fallen off because the camera body disintegrated around their mounts. Inside the lens mounts the bodies look like gray pudding. I brushed it with a toothbrush and stuff just fell of like sand, only it wasn't sand. There were big chunks of greenish-white corrosion all over the insides- especially around the lens mounts. I'm sure many of those delicate metal pieces inside are completely gone. When I popped up the built-in flash it came off in my hand because the hinge mounts were completely eaten away.

The lenses are frozen, full of water and have multiple spots of electrolysis- some are so deep they are almost completely through the metal.

The rubber, plastic and glass parts are all in decent shape, so maybe someone in ebay-land needs some parts... I'll take some pictures of the carnage tomorrow and post em.

Did manage to pry the compartment doors open and get the cards out... no signs of corrosion, so if I can retrieve images I'll post any good ones. Curious about the last shot.

Tyson, thanks again for your efforts, buddy- I owe ya one.

Kudos to Tyson & Jim!

Jay, glad you got the stuff back.... too bad that it's all junk now never thought the water would have done that much damage in such little time!

Can't wait to see the photos that you did take.... I washed & dried the card to my camera last night I just downloaded the photos and its fine

Even tho the cameras are bad it was still worth the effort if you get some of the pics.. The safety harness did not look Cheep and was in good shape, and the trypod is still good. And the paddle is in good shape to paddle out there again next year...
I look at every poker run we go to as an adventure and you never know where we will end up or the crazy things that might happen, so this is just another good story about the travels and adventures of the freedom crew...
