Throttle Base Cracks! Help???
The plastic slotted bases around my throttle controls are all cracked around the screws. Looks like hell!!! Eliminator told me to call the manufacturer (Morse). Morse told me I had to talk to a distributor, they can't help me. The distributor acts like I'm speaking another language, and like nobody has ever heard this before- never returns my calls!!! I would like to avoid the cost of new controls since this is only cosmetic, but the appearence really bothers me. Does anyone know if these are replaceable, and are they brand specific? Most controls look the same as far as the bases are concerned. I would appreceiate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!!!!
P.S. Anyone going to be on Lake George for the weekend??

Too Old,
Do you do all your painting yourself? Seems like if someone is standing around Too long in your warehouse, They would end up getting a fresh coat of paint BTW, the throttle base looks way cool!

The cracks didn't occur until my second season, so I don't think eliminator is going to help me. Your bases look great Too Old!! Thanks for the tip Dave I will try Gaffrig.

I think the plates can be separated, but you'd have to FULLY dissassemble the throttle and shifter to take them off. There's the neutral safety switch and a spring that can be tricky to put back, but it's not too hard. Because the plates are such a major component, I don't think they are available separatly, so you'll either have to live with it, or replace the whole assembly. And no, the Gaffrig units would not be compatable.
Frankly, the reason that the base cracked is because it was over tightened. They're only plastic after all...

Not Many Hot Boats Out On Lake george
Bo, good to hear from you. I was asking Frank where you have been? He said you got some more power. Thats great. Not many boats on the lake that want to get together and RUN!!! I think I'm going to spend more time on the St. Lawremce. More nice boats and the people want to drive them, not just tie up together. Get a hold of me for any local get togethers. Thanks. Hope to see you on the water soon.
