28ft Baja Sport, twin 502s, 540hp, 3800 rpm 56.7 mph 26 Bravos, 1.4 mpg.
Still playing with props, best so far, 80, figure about .8 mpg, turning 5300 rpm.
Kind of hard to get this ole heavy sled to go!

Just returned from a 500+ mile round trip to the Exumas last week in an 80' Lazzara and averaged 1300 feet per gallon with a pair of 1550 Cats at 30mph, not too bad considering it weights 100,000 pounds more than our old 50 Cary with four diesels that got 1680 feet per gallon loaded at the same speed. One of our clients recently told me they average 8 gallons per mile, or 660 feet per gallon, in their 196' boat at 12 knots cruise. In addition they run on 2 or 3 generators continuously and never plug in )unless hauled out) while sitting at the dock or anchor, which is about 25,000 gallons a year alone, without starting the main engines. A 747 aircraft burns 5 gallons per mile in comparison. It seems going very fast saves fuel, so I guess our sport is actually eco friendly in the big picture?

I not sure what the Nordic is, kinda don't want to know!
But the Hydrostream gets about 3.5 mpg at 45 mph, that one of the reasons I love having that little "Ski" boat!
I'm interested in seeing some Ilmor owners post their #'s.

Just before going to the Miami Boat Show, I was on a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. We attended a talk with the captain and a fact sheet was provided about the ship.
In reference to this thread - the ship gets 31 feet to the gallon. Refuels every 2 weeks with 200,000 gallons of fuel at a cost of $1.4 million.
Two 12 cylinder and two 16 cylinder diesel engines produce 130,000 HP.
The Oasis at double occupancy holds 5,400 passengers and is capable of holding 6,296 passengers. Plus a crew of 2,165.
Cost to build Oasis: $1.4 billion

2.2-2.5 MPG between 40-70 Mph computed over 4 150mile trip legs.
(Boat will go 90 but I have no fuel data at that sustained speed)

I worked on a newbuild DP Drilling rig last year. We left the shipyard in Singapore on October 16, 2009 and made it to the Gulf on Jan 17, 2010, all running under our own power. 8 5160kW Generators, 8 Rolls Royce azimuth drives running wide open, total of 40,000HP. We averaged 6.5 knots for the entire trip, including a few stops to fuel up and resupply and crew change.
The entire trip was a grand total of 13,185miles.
We burned a grand total of.........2,186,515 gallons of diesel!!
So that is .006mpg, or 1 gallon of diesel every 36 feet.
