Good thread. This sport's passion is certainly at its highest in our youth. Glad to see so many young people active in the community and enjoying their boats amicably. I'm probably past the focus group for this thread, though not too far removed.

I had a 17' Seat Ray bowrider when I was in college. In 2000 when I was 22 I bought a 21' Baja Hammer. 8 months later I moved into a 2001 25 Outlaw. in 2004, at 26 years old I bought my Cafe, and had finally arrived at the boat that I really wanted all along. That was 7 years ago - hard to believe, but so far so good.

at 17 Had an aristocraft sixteen, we would take it to school and leave strait for the lake with as many females as we could fit - still have it.

Then a four winns 190 horizon 5.0 cobra, used to air it out on the way to PIB

24 - Bought my Cig

26 - Formula 303

Fun times!

Here's the sixteen, affectionately nicknamed the "Aristosh!tter"

Wow a lot of you guys definitely do really well for your age! That's awesome. I'm 25 now and at 17 I had a 17 foot maxum. Boy does that boat have some fun memories, now at 25 I have a 1996 baja 272 along with two yamaha gp1200r's (jet skis). I love the water as well as boating. This is definitely a good thread.

25- i bought a 1987 baja sport196 with a 454
26- bought a 2002 velocity 260 with a 500efi, sold the baja
27- missed the cheap, fun, fast baja. was the funnest boat i have ever bin on. i could put the hammer down from a total rest and it would just jump onto plane. if i try that with velovity i am buying yet another outdrive.
28 now and still miss the little boat with a big motor. i love the velocity just wish i would have kept both.

Don't forget everyone's situation is different. Some people at 26 have 2 kids, 100k in student loans, a wife that may or may not be working, a mortgage that is upside down. Or on the flip side there are plenty who have been fortunate enough to possibly have some help along the way that allows them to afford the boats. Also don't forget that money used to be easier to come by!!

Me and my wife were fortunate in that we were dual income/no kids and basically no other significant bills (other than mortgage) so we made the decision that we wanted to get out on the water and spend our 20's boating so that is what we did. 5 years later is seems almost harder to afford the boat now than it did back then!!
