Tomlinson wanted to run Class 1 this season, so as a friend and colleague I'm glad he's going to be there. Steve Curtis and the Qatar team are coming back, and that's also good news.
What would have been really cool is if the Abu Dhabi team accepted Tomlinson's proposal to have MTI build a boat and then take his own race support crew over there to handle it all season. A truly "U.S" effort competing under the Abu Dhabi colors would have been fun to watch, and with the new power/weight/boat length rules that are designed to increase parity and decrease cost such an effort might have surprised a few folks ... maybe even a few of them on the Victory team.
According to unconfirmed reports (when I asked Tomlinson he said he didn't know), the Victory team may field only one boat this season. If so, that's a sign of the times for sure.
